MAC Makeup Art Cosmetics

Makeup Art Cosmetics is sort of a homecoming for MAC. The collection (set to release August 20) features three artists — a painter, an illustrator, and a photographer — and cosmetics inspired by their styles (an homage to artists of all media). My favorite part of the collection is the eyeshadow quads ($36, inspired by painter Richard Phillips). Photorealism, with its variations on green in frost and veluxe pearl… Read the rest

Stars Makeup Haven Eyeshadow Recap

My email subscribers, I apologize for the Saturday mail (but I know next week we’ll want to launch straight into new topics). I’m just wanted to put all the Stars Makeup Haven shadows into one post for quick and easy reference. These shadows are sold as pans (the same size as MAC’s, 1″ or 26 mm). Right now you can only buy them at StarsMakeupHaven.com , and they’re $4.95… Read the rest

Stars Makeup Haven Eyeshadow, Part 5

Friday really crept up on me — and that means we’ve reached the end of Stars Makeup Haven week. Though I don’t usually post on Saturdays, tomorrow I’ll make a roundup post of these five pictures and put a link in Hot Topics (in the right-hand navigation) so you can find it easily later. I also got a question yesterday about ingredients. Each shadow has its ingredients printed on… Read the rest

Stars Makeup Haven Eyeshadow, Part 4

Blue eyeshadow lovers, I really think Stars Makeup Haven is your brand. (Don’t worry, neutral lovers: I’ve saved a little something for you tomorrow.) For those of you just joining us, this week we’re admiring all 50 shades of a relatively new makeup line. SMH got its start as a website selling pigment-pressing supplies and empty palettes — and though they still sell those items, they’re applying their wealth… Read the rest

Stars Makeup Haven Eyeshadow, Part 3

It’s day 3 of Stars Makeup Haven week at TNBTTGSY! Stars Makeup Haven got its start selling 1″ (26mm) empty pans (the same size as MAC eyeshadow pans), thin magnets, and palettes — everything you would need to press your own loose eyeshadow. Now they’ve launched their own brand of cosmetics, and you have 50 new shades of incredibly soft, dangerously pigmented shadows to play with. They’re $4.95 each,… Read the rest

Stars Makeup Haven Eyeshadow, Part 2

Put on your hardhats, ladies (and fellas?), today’s shadows are extreme. We’re continuing on through the catalog of Stars Makeup Haven eyeshadows — and I should have mentioned yesterday that these pans are the same size as MAC’s, meaning they will fit in your 4- and 15-pan palettes (even E.L.F. palettes). In a nutshell, SMH are incredibly pigmented (as you can see) and extremely soft and smooth — to… Read the rest

Too Faced Natural Eye Palette

When I first caught sight of Too Faced’s Natural Eye Neutral Eye Collection (which I’ll call the Natural Eye Palette from now on), I was intrigued. I think it was being promoted on Sephora’s homepage, and online, it looked like a dream. When my Sephora finally got stock and I was able to see it in person, I was surprised. The palette is much smaller than its picture makes… Read the rest

Bobbi Brown Ivy League Collection

Bobbi Brown’s Ivy League collection is out on counters, just in time for back-to-school. There are three fall-friendly eyeshadow shades, each $20 and sold in a “one-pan palette.” (Bobbi’s eyeshadows and blushes are all on a system that allows you to construct your own 3- or 6-pan palettes.) Dark, sparkly green Bash Metallic Eyeshadow was previously released with the Party Collection last October ; it’s back for a second,… Read the rest

Chantecaille Eyeshadow – the Discontinued Shades

As promised, today I have a few (but by no means all) of the recently discontinued Chantecaille eyeshadow shades to show you. I think these are still relevant because many of the shades are still available in single pots or pans online. Pots retail for $28; pans for $21. Pastis, Topaz, Copper, and Freesia are the shimmery shades. Cinnamon, Agate, Indigo, and Thyme are matte.
